Listed below are the MSRP and invoice prices for the 2000 Model Year Z3 roadsters and coupe and the M roadster and coupe. For reference the 1999 Model Year pricing is also shown so that you may make any price comparisons you wish. Please remember that not all options are available on all models and that many of the options are standard equipment on the 2.8 and M models.
It is interesting to note that BMW has increased the dealer invoice prices significantly more than the base MSRP pricing. BMW NA has also raised the invoice price of literally every option while keeping the MSRP for the option the same as last year. The increase in the MSRP for the 2.3 is $1,350 but the increase in the dealer invoice price is $1,775 or some $425 more than the increase in the MSRP. This represents a price increase in the base invoice price of 6.68 per cent.
It appears that the only justification for the price increase is the lined top in the roadsters and the addition of DSC III to all models except the M roadster and coupe. While the 2.3 is to have an "upgraded" stereo it is too early to tell how well this improvement will perform. Note that the 2.3 still has the HK system available as a $675 extra cost option.
