HELP! Need info on VA speed violations... (archive)

I, unfortunately, received a speeding ticket on I-85 in Southern Virginia (95 mph in a 65) and was told by the officer I must appear in court for a reckless driving charge and would most likely lose my license for 6 mos. (no flames, please, this is painful enough already)

Does anyone have any experience in dealing with such a situation? For example:
1. Is hiring an attorney to assist with such matters recommended?
2. Is there any way to deal with the summons and not have to go all the way back to VA (I live in NYC)?
3. Does anyone know of a good traffic lawyer in Dinwiddie, VA?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. And everyone please be careful driving through VA!
