Disabling Key Memory? (archive)

My key memory has never worked 100%, especially with the climate settings. I know there is not a true fix out there yet, so I'm considering disabling the key memory altogether until they have a fix.

Is this something I can do myself? or do I need a service call. (or can they do it while I wait at the dealer?)
