If this is the case, would it be possible for your brother to find out the vendor of radio that he has and then you can go to your dealer and request a radio swap with the new vendor since what you currently have is defective??

Then, the rest of us can ask for the "good" radio??

Thanks for the responses above. My brother has a just-delivered X5 3.0, and the AM radio is fine -- so it's something in the X5 that clearly has been solved, but BMWNA doesn't seem to want to provide the solution to others with the problem. Maybe it does require changing the radio, which would be expensive. Shame on those folks. (And yes, I have had the battery drain completely twice, both times at the dealer when he was working on the radio!!!!!!!!!!)
