reference to non-M models that have "M" features. The following have been referred to with an "M" or as Motorsport: 3er Compact, 850CSi (I may have the suffix wrong), and Z8. Excluding the Z8 I'd say the 4.6 comes as close to a true "M" as anything. It has the gauges, suspension mods, bigger brakes, and motor.

FYI, I just received my BMW welcome kit in which enclosed were 2 separate letters refering to this vehicle as "X5 M"?
