In the USA you get a pseudo-running board--its about 2 1/2 inches of black cladding plastic. A dealer accessory (factory installed for Canada!) is a running board with an aluminum top trim & rubber dots for traction--its about an inch wider.

We were thinking about adding the running board since my wife uses the Big Blue at least 1/2 time, & often has associates to take to lunch, & women have a more difficult time getting in because they wear skirts.

However, our dealer had the accessory boards on a Mahogany demo, so we tried it & we decided not to get them--they are not deep enough to help, and they make it more difficult to NOT use them when getting in--they stick out far enough that pant legs brush on them.

Hope this helps.

We're taking delivery of X5 3.0 Jan. 2, and we're wondering about having running boards added on. Has anybody else done this, and if so, what are your impressions? Do you know the cost? Does anybody have pics of X5 with running boards? Thanks!
